Orin and Rosa Kidd have served in Christian ministry for more than five decades, with much of that time devoted to the Kimyal people of the highlands of West Papua, Indonesia.

After coming to faith in Christ in 1971, they sensed God’s call to cross-cultural missions and prepared through Bible, linguistic, and missionary training. In 1977, they moved to Papua, with their two sons, and began a ministry that would span decades.

Serving among the Kimyal, Orin focused on church planting, discipleship, leadership development, and pastoral training, while Rosa was involved in literacy and women’s ministry.

Together they worked to communicate the gospel, establish local churches, and equip Kimyal believers to lead and serve within their own communities.

Their ministry emphasized the development of an indigenous, self-sustaining, sending church grounded in Scripture.

Recognizing the importance of literacy and education, they also helped promote educational opportunities that enabled people to read, learn, and assume leadership roles in both church and society. These efforts contributed to the long-term development of the Kimyal community.

A major milestone came through Bible translation. In 1994, Rosa became lead translator for the Kimyal New Testament. After fifteen years of work alongside Kimyal co-workers, the translation was completed in 2009 and dedicated in 2010.

For the Kimyal people, receiving God’s Word in their own language was a historic event and a powerful testimony to God’s faithfulness.

Today, Orin and Rosa continue to invest in missions through, mentoring, Bible translation support, and partnership with churches. Their passion remains the same: to see people transformed by the gospel, grounded in God’s Word, and equipped to make disciples for the glory of Christ among the nations.
